CEFCU Stadium (formerly named Spartan Stadium) is an outdoor athletic stadium in San Jose, California, the home of the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer and the California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference. The stadium is located on the southeast corner of campus, at the foot of Mt. Hamilton. The playing surface is FieldTurf. The stadium has a seating capacity of 18,000 people for soccer and 30,272 for football. The stadium opened in 1933 and was initially built with a capacity of 34,000. Over the years, the stadium has been expanded and renovated several times, most notably in 2006, when it was converted from a football stadium to a soccer-specific stadium. In 2019, CEFCU Stadium underwent another expansion to add more seating and hospitality spaces. Today, CEFCU Stadium is one of the premier soccer-specific stadiums in the country. It has hosted numerous national and international events, including the 1984 Summer Olympics, the 1994 FIFA World Cup, and the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
